When the NYDOT set out to increase ridership, they learned that their signage needed much improvement.  The existing aluminum signs were lost in the street clutter, and many were stolen for their scrap value.  They turned to Universal Plastics for assistance.  We worked in cooperation with City DOT personnel to develop a plastic sign system which is both colorful and durable.  The modular plastic signs allow for easy route changes, and offer greatly improved visibility over the aluminum version.  Best of all, they have also reduced maintenance costs over 90% due to their increased resistance to knock-down damage.  The product was such a success that the City has now converted all 5 boroughs to the new plastic signs.
